Creative Mathematical Expeditions!

Through group conversations, students explore, play with, produce examples and counterexamples, make conjectures and discover mathematical insights. Mathematics is explored with low-threshold/high-ceiling mathematical problems outside of the typical math curriculum and discovered in an informal environment.

The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus. Students in grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.Students in grade 8 and below, AND under 14.5 years of age on the day of the competition are eligible to participate in the AMC 8.

A Math Circle

"Math Circles are places where students and teachers get to engage with mathematically deep content presented in unique ways that promote hands-on discovery. Low-threshold, high-ceiling problems can be approached by students with minimal background but still lead to concepts rooted in advanced mathematics."

What are
Explora Math Circle
students saying?

“Discussing different approaches to solving problems has broaden my problem solving strategies”

“The games at the end of the session are a driving force for persevering through the hard problems of the Math Circle.”

“A nice break from traditional problems!”

“The logic games are awesome!”

“The Math Festival was a blast! Can we do it more often?”

“Our team had so much fun at the Math Wrangle! Never before had I paid such close attention to someone presenting a solution. If we didn’t, our team wouldn't have good rebuttals.”

“Tackling hard problems together has built my confidence”

“Explora Math Circle has opened up a much bigger, brighter, and more engaging world of math I didn’t know was possible. It has given me resources and different ideas/approaches on how to conduct math at home. It has provided my kids a social and fun way to interact with peers while solving math problems. We talk a whole lot more about math and “see” more math in the world than we did before we did Math Circle and we think it’s cool. Math Circle has helped me see the beauty and “coolness” of math. My kids see their knowledge base widen and go deeper because of Explora Math Circle.”
-Explora Math Circle Parent

“Before my two kids (12 and 9 years old) attended the Circle, I tried hard but could not pass my love for math unto them. However, since we started coming to the Math Circle, I found that they have begun to love math!”
-Explora Math Circle Parent

“Explora Math Circle has taught all of us, collectively as a family, that math is fun. It has taught us the value of persistence and the gift of being comfortable not knowing (which frees us to keep trying).”
-Explora Math Circle Parent

“The coaches have given my children new approaches to their problem solving. In addition, the environment helps my children have fun social interactions with math. Math+Friends=Fun!”
